Marta is Faculty at Temple University, Rome Campus teaching the course of Social Justice and Business and Contemporary Politics of Europe. Since July 2023 she has been appointed as Assistant Director of "Temple Rome Entry Year - TREY" program and Director fo the Internship program. Former Professor of International Law of the Sea and EU Law at the Training School of "Guardia di Finanza" and "Polizia Tributaria" in Rome.

 

She has been appointed as HRIC's President in May 2018 and re-elected for a new 4years-term in June 2022.

 

After completing a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master's degree in International Relations at “LUISS Guido Carli” University in Rome (Italy), Marta earned a Ph.D. in International Public Law at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”.

 

Parallel to her activity with HRIC, Marta is involved in a range of high profile projects: she is Research Assistant and Member of the Working Group of the Research Project “The implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights by the European Union and its Member States”, International Law and International Relations Department, University of Seville (Spain); Business advisor with particular reference to MENA countries and consultant in stakeholder assessment and engagement projects; Member of the Coordinating Committee of the ESIL Interest Group on International Business and Human Rights (2016-2019). Since 2018 she is Co-Director of the "Businsess and Human Rights" Summer School, co-organized by HRIC, CNR, University of Milan and Wageningen University.

Marta has participated as spokesperson at some international and national conferences related to her focus areas of research and activity, including some events organised by the Italian Government and by foreign universities and research centres. She has published articles on relevant Business & Human Rights issues in peer-reviewed journals and books.

​

In 2020-2021 she served as human rights and business expert at the Internministerial Committee for Human Rights (in Italian CIDU).  Until July 2023, she has served as BHR International Expert at UNDP Tunisia.

 

Marta is an Italian native speaker, she has full command of English and Spanish. She also has full understanding on French.
